Uzumaki is a horror affiliated manga. “Kurouzu-cho, a small fogbound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but a pattern: UZUMAKI, the spiral — the hypnotic secret shape of the world.”

This single volume manga is a bizarre masterpiece of Junji Ito. It is by far my favourite manga. Each chapter has a surprising twist filled with ghastly images and stories. Anything you can think of that’s affiliated with spiral is in there, including things that  you could NEVER think of when you think of the word “spiral.” It goes from tornados to whirlpools to”mosquito cyclones,” and much much more.

I’ve read this manga numerous times and it surprises me each time. If anyone’s looking for a good horror manga to read, this is it. I highly recommend Uzumaki to any manga readers out there. It’s definitely a must read for all you manga freaks out there!
